Vacation Day 13: It’s the End of the Tour…

Well, it’s the end of the tour…  Well, not quite yet…, but we are getting close.  The Day started off once again with Jake, and Ronald, doing their thing..  Off wandering around, and most likely picking on each other in some way.

Supper consisted of some fresh Fish for Gertie, and Burger’s for Jake and I..  Did I ever mention that I’m one of those few Newfoundlanders who’s not that fond of Fish?  That being said, Jake, and I TRULY ENJOYED OUR BURGERS..  There’s something nice about grilling a burger that’s not LEAN, whatever… Smile

Just after that, we where visited by the local roaming family of Wild Turkeys.

Well, it’s the last real day of riding, and it poured the day before, so, it’s time to get Dirty.  We started with a morning ride around the island, and then back into a few woods roads..

The river..

As we drove back further onto the woods roads, we came upon a Quad.  Well, I’m not a fan of Quad’s, and I’m making sure Jake is not either..  I did allow him to sit on it.  But even with the key in it, it didn’t start.

The Little Quad

And oh boy, did the bikes get Dirty..

As we get ready to depart the island, we will have to clean it for sure.  But, there’s time for another ride before that happens. Smile

The the evening, jake wanted to ride along the shore of the island, thus, that’s what we had to do.   We are going to clean the bikes directly after, so, I was good with that for sure.

With Ronald, Madonna, and Gertie on the Quad, and Jake, and I on the bikes, off we went..  For my uncle Bob, and Scott.  Please don’t look at the first couple of photo’s..

Once on the island, we take to the hills for some jumps, and Wheelies..

Vacation Day 12 Jake helps Ronald…Build a concrete pad, I watch!!

Today, was a very interesting day in Paradise..  Jake was super excited to help Ronald finish a peace of his garage, and house…  Basically a concrete pour, with some smoothing efforts..  Me, I’m not a concrete guy, but Jake rolled up this sleves, and was ready to go..

What was nice here, was that Eric, and Darcy where involved.  It’s the first time we saw them this vacation…

DSC00026

Above, is Eric the finisher…   If his name was attached to something, he made sure that it was his best work, for sure.  I don’t think he thought it was ever good enough.

DSC00027

Darcy, well, he was just happy to help..  He’s a strong boy….   It’s to bad we didn’t get to see them more for sure.

Well, with the first truck up against the Garage, the pour started.  Yep, we needed two… Oops Ronald..

Vacation Day Whatever: Riding and the Views are spectacular..

Back on the road again, we head from Bishop’s Falls, over to the Codroy Valley…  Truly a Spectacular place..  Have to give a big shout out to http://www.addabike.com The Bike Carrier system has been terrific… Knock on wood..

Rear View Mirror

The first day Jake, and I hit the Gale family island… Just across from Ronald’s house..  Absolutely wonderful riding, and Jake of course found an area to Jump…

Island Picture

Jake and I hit the top of what we call Madonna’s Mountain.  The long range mountains are in the background, and really we are on the Anguille Mountain..  The road has deteriorated quite a bit, but Jake made it up the technical track quite well..  It’s amazing how much Jake has improved.

Top of Madonnas Mtn.

Jake, and I hit Raymond’s Pit today.  A number of Pits in the Valley that was an absolute Blast.  Jumps, soft sand, hill climbs, it was Heaven for dirtbiking..  Unbelievable.  The mountains are just incredible.

Vacation Day 11…

Dirtbiking, in the Valley…  Jake, and I got the bikes out after breakfast today, and immediately proceeded up the Mountain… For those on Facebook, there are some pictures on the Mobile uploads section.  The road had become bad, but jake was able to practice his technical skills, and naviagate his way to the very top.  it was great..

Shortly after that, we did some exploring around some logging roads, and jake found another item.  A Hammer..

Then proceeded up to Ronald’s house to get an update, and WOW, the colors….

Jake wanted to head over to the Gale island, and we had a blast riding up and down the hills..  Again, another great photo is up on the Facebook/mobile section.

I’ve been watching Jake ride now for the last couple of days, and it’s sure great to see his skills improve.  Especially during some of the backwoods technical sections..

Well, time for lunch, and we decided to play some golf in the Codvoy Valley, and St. Andrew Na Creige.  It may only be 9-holes, but there’s nothing nicer in my opinion with respect to Views..

How good is that?

Below is the updated photo…  Gertie, and I took a picture of this hole, a number of years ago, that was used on actually on a Government Financial Report.

After Supper at the Wreckhouse Tea room, which was Fanatastic, we went back to the construction of Ronald’s house, and Jake decided it time to use the backhoe…

Vacation Day 10, Travel to Codroy, and we found a MOOSE

Well, Hawkeye Gertie was in the passenger seat once again, and guess what she found this time?

DSC09822

Notice the TWO MOOSE..

Well, after getting a couple of pictures, off we head to the Deer Lake Insectarium.  Gertie was behind the camera once again, and WOW..

I know, Jake knocked 30% of this dudes life, but eh, they only live for two weeks?  What the hey..

DSC09867

Alright, time for the rest of the trip.  Back to the highway, and on the road to the Codroy Valley.

We just love visiting the insectarium.   and it was sure nice to get back.

Vacation Day 10 Dirtbiking in Central. The Big Air Day…

Ok, as you can probably tell, Jake, and I spend quite a bit of time on the bikes.. Especially this vacation, it’s been AWESOME..

We where luck today to have Momma behind the camera today, and even Poppy, and Nanny watching us in the Pit at Jumpers Brook today.

Jake, and I where really working on getting Air today.  He would do something, and then I would follow directly after..

Ok, why do I feel like 10 again..   This has been just so much fun.  Jake, and I have been having a blast, as we are lucky today Gertie is with us..

We where finding different routes, and lines through the pit, and Jake was SOOO Happy…

He still has the best eyes in his turns..  A great trait that I hope follows him as he continues riding…

It’s the Day of the Ollie….

After quite a bit of time dirtbiking, and scootering lately, jake has really taken to the board once again.  We picked up a new Deck(almost – Kosten) from West 49, and he’s really diggin it..

He’s renewed his interest in getting the Ollie back in shape, and here it is, in Uncle Bob’s Driveway in Gander.

DSC09657

No to be out done… I started to get my ollie on…  Well, not so much..

DSC09665

After dinner with Aunt Betty, and Uncle bob, off we head to Gander Skatepark.  Great park..
